Mestre Bimba
Mestre Bimba (1900-1974), created in the 1930s in Brazil, a new Capoeira with advanced techniques and pedagogy. It was called the "Luta Regional Bahiana", Capoeira Regional inspired by the Capoeira of the past (which he had learned with a man named Dentinho), as well as the Batuque (Brazilian fight quite violent whose father of Mestre Bimba was champion). It is thanks to him that Capoeira became legal (previously Capoeira was very repressed in Brazil and punished by the law).
Mestre Pastinha
Mestre Pastinha (1899-1981), was teaching Capoeira at the same time than Mestre Bimba but the sight of a modern Capoeira prompted him to want to preserve the Capoeira of the past and he named his Capoeira "Capoeira Angola". Capoeira Angola is a slower, more direct Capoeira, not looking for an aesthetic or spectacular appeal. The blows are low, the gesture is more danced, theatrical, and mixed with animal movements.
